US Coins: I love US commemoratives, classic and modern. I also love Eagles, gold, silver or platinum, it doesn't matter. Anyone have any advice on whether I should get me coins graded by NGC? One dealer told me not to get any coin graded if it wasn't worth at least $300, but I've bought lots of MS70 coins for less than $200. What do you think?

well darkstar
i think this is an easey one to answer. the deal is correct in one factor.
if there not value over 300 .00 for resale .i would agree. but here its totaly up to you, are you buying them for sale to make a profet?
some due even i do if i find a raw coin that i think i can resell and make a few bucks, ,is help fund my coin collection.
now as a collector some and some not like to slab the for the pertection
some collect only slabed coins and soma only raw.
what it comes down to is, what you would like . there nothing wrong with haveing both. i do recormind slabeing any rare or key date coin.
put if you going for a resale. i would go with pcgs over ngc because they draw higher value in the sales.
right now i am working on the flag state quarter set. there all proof 69deep camoe, none are that valueable ,20 to 30 bucks each, but it show me some history with them, being each coin has its own state flag with the coin.
i hope this help you out some, but there real answer is do what you think that will make you happen and injoy the hobby.

John:

How much does it cost do get them slabbed by NGC? Do you send them directly to NGC yourself or do you use a local dealer?

well cost very buy grading tiers and value of coin and who fast you want it back. plus mailing to them and return postage. the least you will get away with would ba about 25 to 30 bucks a coin.
you do have to be a rgisterd member of ngc or pcgs to sumitt cons .
there there are diffrent levels of membership ,thing 99.00 to jion
149.00 with extras membeship prevlige
and top 199 you get all prevliges plus 8 free sumitting.
you can check here
http://www.ngccoin.com/index.asp

or you can find a local dealer that can submitt them.
but i would realy recormind joining ngc and submitting them your self.

hi t-pac
what do you collect. , i am working on a pcgs registure set right now in washington proofs.
be care if your not a long time buyer, both auction site below ,has hidden reserves, or buy back options , so dont get sucked into bidding more that they are worth.
glad to have you aboard.
