A 1 3/16" high-relief pewter commemorative medal. Coin commemorates the July 15, 1975 launch of the first international manned space mission. The Apollo Soyuz test project was the final flight of the Apollo program.

The medals were struck for NASA by the L. G. Balfour Company of Massachusetts. These medals were made for distribution to NASA and space industry employees that worked on the missions. The designs were taken from sketches and photographs approved by NASA artist and technicians associated with each mission. Medals were struck in both sterling silver and pewter for the various Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions.
Found another space coin:

Medal is in mint condition, and it's original plastic case is included. L.G. Balfour is impressed into the plastic on backside of case. Backside of medal depicts same graphic, with all wording in Russian.

My only Space coin is 2001, Russia, Yuri Gargarin, 10 Rubles. I purchased it on ebay earlier this year. I have several 5 and 10 ruble coins from Nicholas II, some old wire coins from Ivan the Dread, Peter I, Mikhail Feodorovich, and a lot of Modern Commemorartives; 1990 Chekov, 1996 Dostoevsky, 1994 Gogol, 1993 Pushkin, 1987 USSR 70th Ann. Bolshevik Revolution, 1988 160th Anniversary of the Birth of Leo Tolstoi.

I also purchased a set of 10 pieces (kopeks and dengas) of wire money from the Murom Treasure, "found near Murom, just west of Moscow." Do you know anything about this treasure?

Glad to meet you. My grandfather came from the Ukraine in 1908, but unfortunately, I don't speak Russian or Ukrainian. I have collected coins from the Ukraine, Imperial Russia, the Soviet Union and Modern Russia. I know just enough Russian to translate the inscriptions. I have often thought of traveling to Russian; Moscow and St. Petersburg.

What do you like to collect?
